Clash of the Choirs Tonight!
“‘Clash of the Choirs’ is a live four-night musical event coming to NBC in December 17th. “Clash of the Choirs,” has tapped five musical superstars — Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle, Nick Lachey, Kelly Rowland and Blake Shelton — to embark on a musical challenge as they return to their hometowns to assemble an amateur choir and prepare them to compete live in studio for the title of America’s best choir. The show will feature music genres ranging from current pop hits to holiday classics. The choir hopefuls will be judged each night by viewers watching at home.”
I’m so ready for this. Much as I bahHumbug the rest of the holidays, I’m down with the music – was jamming to the Holiday Lounge remix yesterday as I rearranged my bedroom, in fact. So a competition of choirs done by competent musicians (and Michael Bolton, too!) sounds kind of fun…
My girlfriend is rooting for Patti Labelle, and I must confess, I’m tempted to join her – my ex mother-in-law was a friend of hers, and I met her once. And, well, Beverly Hills Cop was the soundtrack of my youth. But, I’m going to pull hometown roots here and vote for Blake Shelton, simply because he’s from my home state of Oklahoma. This is kind of like the way I buy wine (based on the one with the prettiest label), since I’ve really never heard of the guy (but checking the “about” section of the site gives me a link to his hit single, “The More I Drink“, so how bad could he be?).
Should be fun- tune in tomorrow for my review!

I have to admit, I’m a little tossed on my loyalties on this one too. It should be interesting to see the outcome. This one is going to be lots of fun!
Saw it last night. Patti’s group was probably the best – she picked a great song for a choir. Nick’s group was pretty good too. I was disappointed in Michael Bolton’s group. He just did what he does – a rock song with back up singers – not fitting for a choir contest.
Patti’s gonna take it all…the “judges” segments are ridiculous…sounds like the last Dem debate almost….get Simon or the Brit from So You Think You Can Dance to make some REAL comments, not this waste-of-time, phony love=fest.

WOW and OMG! When I first started watching this on Monday it was ho hum, but here it is night 3 and what a dramatic difference. I was sure Bolton would go down and I was right but Lachey, Shelton and LaBelle really stepped up the game. Patty was indescribable tonight..WOW. Tough decision, I think Ms. Patty will get the popular vote…
The Oklahoma choir had a great song and the hottest women.
