Apollinaire’s Recommendations for January Viewing
OK, when I say “viewing”, I mean attending, and so this is really only useful if you live in or are travelling to NYC. Still, it’s a nice little snapshot of what’s current in the NYC dance scene, and I especially like her description of someone I would definitely want to check out:
” TangoX2, City Center, January 16-24: Okay, so the theater and the story and the costumes are likely to be cheesy, if the troupe’s visit last year is any clue. But chubby, wistful star Miguel Angel Zotto is not to be missed. Last time, he danced in half of dozens of numbers (partnered by one lithe, long-limbed, faceless member and then another of his harem), and you wished he’d been in all of them. All sorts of tango men are brooding and sweaty. But adorable as a bunny, and touching to boot? Only Zotto. “–Apollinaire Scherr
And how much do I love the internet? I can’t go see them there, but I can do a quick search and find them on YOUTUBE! And so can you:
