So You Think You Can Dance Final 10: pre-reaction
I’ve been dealing with laundry emergencies (forgot to check the pocket for my girlfriend’s lipstick from when we went out, and now…well, my clothes look something like the Hip Hop outfits that Danny & Sarah had today.
But I’ll tell you this: that was no tango. Oh, the steps might have been tango, but…look, yes, he can pirouette like a god, but you DON’T PIROUETTE IN THE TANGO ARGENTINE. It’s about connection, and sensuality, and it turns the audience into voyeurs because the rest of the world disappears and there is, for that moment, only two of you.
By some coincidence, I just watched the movie "Tango" by Carlos Saura the week before. This beautiful movie, where every frame pretty much leaves you breathless, has what I consider the quintessential tango. Actually, I found this clip extremely creepy. Truth be told.
