The B5Media network:

The B5Media Music Channel: my sister blog launches!

I love B5Media, and it’s not only because they actually pay me to sit here and read and talk about the stuff I love (or rant about stuff I don’t love, which is just as much fun). No, it’s also just fun to be part of a growing company, and a company that seems to be concerned not only with being ethical and providing good content for their readers ("Gray, more on SYTYCD! Sylvie Guillem is wonderful, but you need to pay attention to more than that!") but also in finding new content.

So I was really glad to see that they’ve launched a "Music Channel". It’s got a few different genres to start with (and if there’s a genre there you’d like to see, drop them a line, they’ll find someone like Derek Griffin (host of the Industrial Addiction page), Gilan Israel (host of The Beatle Invasion) , or Lara Kulpa(host of Crooner Culture) to write about it. As you can see, they cover a gamut already, but as a tribute to them, I’m going to put up my own playlist of favorite tunes, specifically tailored for Jennifer over at Hippie Sounds:

Gray’s Top 3 Songs from ‘69:

  1. Aquarius/Let the Sunshine (the 5th Dimension): my mother tells me this is the first song I ever sang, and I still love playing with the harmonies when I hear it. Didn’t see it actually in a production until about 4 years ago, though; barely knew it was in a musical!
  2. Someday We’ll Be Together (Diana Ross & the Supremes): Currently in a curmudgeonly mood, it’s hard for me to admit that this has always been (along with most of the other music by the Supremes) one of my faves.
  3. Suspicious Minds (Elvis): Ah, much more to my bitterly anti-romantic taste! I’m a closet Elvis fan; I suspect I may end up, in my waning years, doing a pretty mean impersonation. Except I can’t really grow sideburns. Hmm….

(and by the way, Gilan, in spite of what my mother tells me, I don’t believe I was actually responsible for the Beatle’s breaking up).

Okay this is the second nice plug someone’s done for me that I’ve missed :( Sorry I think I have brain freeze issue from too many slurpees. I think you very kindly for the link love,

I think I’ll have to think of something special to do for you now that I’m so terribly late with the thanks. Hmmm, I have one idea. This idea will have nothing to with Elvis BTW, sorry, not an Elvis fan. I do love the other two songs you noted.

Though she was born a long long time ago, your mother should know.
