Let’s Slow Things Down: Buddy Guy and Carlos Santana
What you’re going to watch here is half the phenomenon that finally let me enjoy jazz.
See, I never really liked jazz, and so I never went to any performances. Why bother, when I didn’t like the sound? Then I got involved in jazz band in H.S. (just because I was an obnoxious extrovert, not for any love of the music) and discovered that playing jazz was amazing fun. Suddenly the framework made sense, a jungle gym of chord changes upon with I and my friends would cavort and play "Watch this!" as our fingers did stunts within the sounds.
And after that…attending became a lot more interesting, because I would watch the performers, their hands almost a dance performance in and of themselves, the looks of glee and consternation that would pass between them as they passed riffs back and forth, and the joy of being a little more than a passive withness…of getting to have a bit of a look behind the scenes.
So enjoy this video of a couple of the best guitarist in the business as they jam at that Montreux Jazz Festival:

Hey, this isn’t JAZZ! This is the BLUES and very fine blues at that!
Just because it’s at a Jazz festival, don’t confuse the two!
Thanks for sharing though, these guys are awesome on their own, together, well there is no word for what they are!
