So You Think You Can Write About Dance?
OK, I had my butt proverbially handed to me today by a fellow SYTYCD fan. I had been given the great gift of a link to a user on YouTube who had put all the dance performances (and just the dance performances) online. So even though I wasn’t able to see it last night, I got to see the important bits.
Is it just me, or did Danny have absolutely NO chemistry with his partner Anya? It really seemed to look to me like he was showing off, and it was occasionally convenient that he had a girl attached to his arm. And what a godawful song to dance to…oh, Avril Lavigne, why have you forsaken me?
And I have to say, I am still madly in lust with Faina. Not because she bears a bit of a resemblance to my ex-gf. Not because of the way she moves (cue Speakerboxx here). No, I’m in lust with her because she really seems to want to dance, and enjoys it, and it really comes out in the way she expresses her movements. She had the challenge of turning her own more lyric and club style into a hip hop dance, and she did it really, really well, I thought.
Ok, plus she’s a really purty grrl.
But my favorite, without a doubt, was Sara and Jesus. When I watch someone dance and I don’t just think "wow, pretty!" but my body itches to get up and move with them, that’s a good dance, to me. And their pop jazz number was awesome:
Of course, this is where it’s embarrassing. My friend who gave me these videos said "Yeah, it was very Wade Robson."
And I, being ignant, said "Who?"
So, on the off chance you don’t know who he is either, I will do an upcoming entry just about him.
Watching tonight? Twitter me that you are! I’m "Fame or Famine", of course!

I love Wade Robinson choreography, and this was my favorite dance routine of the night. Thanks for adding this video…love it!
Actually I believe my comment was “yeah, good wade robson piece”.
Robson’s work is always very unique and generally some of the more memorable pieces from SYTYCD. Some of the better ones he choreographed from last season:
Ramalama
W’happy Mama
Hey, no fair correcting my quotes! I get poetic license, so I can say you said whatever I say.
Um…yeah.
Gonna do a profile piece on him soon. Thanks for the idea.
