Cedric: the Bane of Dance
Don’t get me wrong. I think Cedric is remarkably talented. I’m glad he got the offer from Debbie Allen to go to her school, to be a part of it, I think it’s noble that when he had his ass handed to him by the judges wednesday night, he tried to turn it into a lesson for other dancers to have more diversity in their training.
But this is a competition. And the fact is, his was absolutely the worst dance Wednesday night, in spite of Mia Michael’s genius. He definitely should have been in the bottom three, if we were actually judging him on dance.
But we’re not, really. We’re going for Mob Rule, and apparently the Mob would rather put Jesus in the bottom three, and with the pressure on…he couldn’t deliver. Can you blame him? He saw Cedric’s dance; it’s got to be demoralizing to realize that no matter how well you dance, you are not going to be able to overcome naive enthusiasm.
Cedric’s still in; Jesus is gone. The Dance Gods are not pleased.

Oh, not only did I NOT understand why they would keep Cedric (I know, he’s from my hometown, but still) – I expect more of him – for all these other great dancers to continue being cut and for him to stay just because his own personal style is unique? Not fair. He needs variety and he doesn’t have it.
And Jessi being cut – I think something was up with that. They didn’t really explain their reasoning and I think she did far better this week on her solo than she did last week.
Yeah. it was pretty sad. And the fact that even you would see that your homie shouldn’t stay just backs up the fact that this was just NOT right…
