The B5Media network:

1/2 a Dance with a Star is better than none…

Dammit, my friend told me So You Think You Can Dance started at 8pm tonight, and I planned my day around that. Then I turn it on an hour late, so I only got to see these…

Cedric & Faina: Unfortunately Cedric was outside of his comfort zone, and it showed. He’ll be dancing for his life again. The telltale for me was when he had his lips pursed with concentration. It was obvious that he was trying, and Faina was definitely in her element – but I almost resented him for drawing attention away from her.

Cameron & Lacey: Love the kicks they did – his floating leaps, too. They both had great intensity. Definitely the sexiest couple, but I disagree with Mia. They didn’t have the "spice" because it was polished, and smooth. It showed virtuosity. This was my favorite dance for the

Danny (ugh) and Anya: Viennese waltz for dummies? "Yet…we’re not…" eyes widen in horror "romantically involved." Ugh, Danny, come ON. Feel the dance! She doesn’t trust you because you’re not trustworthy! (this was all written before they danced). After… I never believed he invested himself in the dance, at all. He doesn’t dance with a partner–he just occasionally has humans as parts of the set he’s dancing on. I thought that his "hands doing their own dance" was distracting and superfluous.

Jimmy & Shauna: Messy. Messy, messy, messy. There just wasn’t that precise popping that I think needed to be there. I thought the a cappella bit especially was just sloppy. I can’t believe the judges are being so nice. Were we watching the same dance?

Sarah & Jesus: I thought he was a little too over the top. He seemed to just stop too much. I was disappointed in their paso doble (and wtf? with that music?) up until that last leap and dip. That totally redeemed their routine in my eyes. I did think that Sarah seemed too grounded for the Paso Doble, but I suppose it’s to be expected with the lack of training ("Is this your first time in heels?" asked one judge). However, as my tardy friend said, "how far can you let people go by letting them pass because they did well for not having training?"

I’ll have to look at the other dances on YouTube – judging from the recap, the first few were much more interesting than the ones I got to watch.

Notic at the end,  Danny was still dancing mainly with himself?
