Holy Masked Men, Batman: Phantom Reaches 8000!
I’m all for records, and for milestones, but every once in a while there’s one or two that simply boggle the imagination.
Now, I know there are some of you out there who are not into Mr. Webber’s music. You are sick of it, and wish he (and Mr. Rice, I’ve heard tell) would just put their music away for an eon or two and then be featured in a retrospective.
Sorry. I’m not with you on this one. Perhaps it’s because this is the music I’ve sat around the piano with my daughters and sang. Perhaps it’s because in the school production of it that my daughter was in, she played the phantom (and played it damn well, I gotta say). Maybe it’s just because it’s an interesting story of passion, the darker side of beauty, and power exchange between individuals.
The dresses are purty, too.
