I’m starting to think that opera may be getting a renaissance. Aside from the audacious decision to both broadcast online and also simulcast OUTSIDE the Met, the Metropolitan Opera has apparently also been targeting movie theatres:

Don’t get me wrong–I like Tony Danza. I’m glad that he got on Broadway, but I wish that he wasn’t trying to fill the shoes of people like Nathan Lane and Zero Mostel. Check out the preview (the REALLY BIG preview) of the Producers at BroadwayWorld.com:

What I DO love is seeing some good old fashioned athletic belting by the Ulla, played by Angie Schworer. Holding that kind of tone while you’re hanging upside down over the edge of a desk and managing to drape your dress just so…now that’s talent.
