Guest Shilling – Ali – The Chicago Theatre Scene

This is an email I recieved from Ali who works in the Chicago show scene. It is reprinted here with her kind permission.

For those of you who don’t know, Babes With Blades just opened our latest production, BWB: Cliffhangers, at the Breadline Center for the Performing Arts. It is a ton of fun and the material is new and even better than before. The show covers a multitude of genres from Science Fiction to Merchant Ivory so there is something for everyone.

For more info, check out www.babeswithblades.ORG After a year and a half off from production to reorganize structurally, I directed this piece to open up the season, and I hope you all can make it. Let me know if you are coming and we can have a drink after the show!

Chicago is a great town for theater, so here are some other shows that you should check out as well. I already have bought my tickets!

For a really good long laugh, check out The King’s Proposal or The Marriage of Princess Guido with Chemically Imbalanced Theater at the Cornservatory. I was able to read the script before hand which had me laughing out loud, and I can’t wait to see it up on stage, with my friend Toby in a dress! It is only running for 2 more Fridays, so hurry.

If you like the tension that stage combat comes out of, but not necessarily the actual physical violence, check out Stage Combat at Piccolo Theate in Evanston.

And last, but certainly not least, is Caffeine Theatre’s production of Dona Rosita, or the Language of the Flowers. Federico Garcia Lorca is apparently the playwright of the season, with over 5 different productions or variations of The House of Bernard Alba. But the lovely Jen Shook brings you another one of Lorca’s beautiful scripts, and even better, there are $10 tickets for previews this weekend!

The Babes are also having a Halloween Bash THIS Sunday, October 23rd, at Sylvie’s Lounge (just around the corner from where our show is running, HINT, HINT) so if you come by after you see our show, you can have that drink with me. There is a cover, but it can easily be reduced if you buy a ticket in advance from me, come in costume, or bring your program from when you went to see BWB: Cliffhangers! Again, for more info, check out the site at www.babeswithblades.ORG
