Your Favorite Movie Experience

I apologize for the month-long hiatus, folks, but hopefully the PAB is ready to be up and raring to go again!

To start us off with a bang I thought that I’d relate my most enjoyable moviegoing experience and invite you to do the same.

In 1987 my father took me to the premier opening of The Princess Bride in Washington D.C. I don’t recall the name of the specific theatre, but I do vividly remember sitting in the first row of the balcony seating and clutching a warm bag of popcorn as the opening scenes rolled.

I know that I don’t have to tell you, Constant and Fabulous Reader, how amazing the movie was, or how much fun the entire theatre had laughing together and “awwwww”ing together, but I have to tell you that I’ve never been in an atmosphere of so many people determined to thoroughly enjoy a moviegoing experience since. The fact that the movie lived up to and exceeded expectation was only the icing on the cake.

I still remember the cheering and clapping and popcorn-throwing and general revelry as each face froze on the screen for the credits.

I know that when my Grandfather and Great Uncle went to see Hunt for Red October they wound up standing in the aisle shouting at the screen and cheering. It are those sorts of rare experiences that can make the movies such a magical place.

What has been your favorite movie experience?
