Ralph’s World - Show Review

by Krissy Baker on July 25th, 2005

Some time ago at the Children’s Books, Toys and Things blog here at AboutWeblogs.com, Hsien posted about children’s music. I posted that Ralph’s World is a great musical start for little ones; in no small part because the music is more than slightly palatable for the older generation as well.

Ralph works with real musical instruments and his songs often have a grownup undertone to them. I’d tell you which ones, but it’s more fun trying to guess. Ralph is an accomplished musician and if you’ve ever heard of The Bad Examples, he also heads that band.

While it’s true that my husband is on three of the albums, it’s also true that if I’d heard them independently, I’d still be playing them for Charlie. Whenever we get a chance to go and see Ralph live, we do. From his extensive narrative that is primarily for mom and dad, to the booty-shakingly good time for the kids, we have an absolute blast.

Ralph’s World is a great recommendation. I checked out his site and one of the videos he has available to watch really gets up jumping up and down. :)

I’m glad you liked him. His concerts are great. They seem to be focused primarily on making the kids dance and jump and march and twirl and dance and jump and march and twirl. It’s like you can see the hungry, happy parent look: "Easy bedtime tonight!!"

Just catching up really belatedly here… I’m kind of amused that our Kevin Bacon factor is ever more complicated, as I’ve got a friend who plays with Ralph’s band. I think touring, though, not on records, so he may not have worked with Andy. Still, what are the odds…
