Welcome to the Performing Arts Blog!

The Performing Arts Blog covers a broad range of subcategories including; acting, directing, producing, casting, composing, playing an instrument, conducting, dancing, stage combat, band leading, singing, and even includes (would you believe it) miming.

Within each of those categories are: thoughts and opinions about the people that do those things; the people that did those things and no longer do them; living with the people that do those things; being a female performing artist; being a male performing artist; being a gay performance artist; being a straight performance artist; where one goes to learn to be a performance artist; where one goes to teach someone to be a performance artist; dealing with children who wish to be performance artists; and the various daily foibles of the performance art life. Just for fun, we’ll throw some movie, television, theatre and music reviews into the mix.

In its essential form, this blog is all about Performance Art all the time. Please visit for fun, or leave questions to be answered.

ABOUT ME:

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the competitive world of The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago. I began my professional acting career at 14 being cast as a young performer at the Maryland Renaissance Faire. I performed in over 35 plays during my high school career and countless more during my University years including musicals and self-written items. I have directed on several occasions, although admittedly not particularly well. An internship at the Folger Shakespeare Library rounds out my genre credentials. I have built sets, hung lights, performed improv, adult theatre and children’s theatre, been in straight plays and comedies, and appeared in one indy college film.

Once I graduated DePaul U, for various reasons I abandoned the acting life and became an MC at a supper club in Chicago. I taught dancing and was featured at various places as a swing dancer. During that time I fell in love with a trombonist Jazz musician and we married and live in Chicago. I no longer am an active performance artist, but they say those who can, do, and those who can’t write about it. So here I am, typing away.

This is the Performance Art Blog. Welcome.
